Gravity's Alfonso Cuaron wins best director
Oscar as space movie wins big
Alfonso Cuaron was named Best Director at the Oscars to top a great night for Gravity.
The space movie starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock dominated the production awards,
picking up six gongs.
And
the film, winner of
best picture at the Baftas last month, was also
recognised in one of the 'Big Six'
categories as Cuaron beat Steve
McQueen, David O. Russell, Alexander Payne and Martin Scorsese to be
named Best Director.
Paying tribute to his colleagues he made particular mention of Best Actress nominee Sandra Bullock.
